We create furniture that will last. That means we pay attention to the details. Starting with a corner-blocked, kiln-dried hardwood frame to prevent warping and cracking, the Whitlocke Chair and Outtonman are made with eight-way hand-tied construction, which is the golden standard of quality construction. Each spring is tied eight ways: from side to side, front to back and diagonally.
A lavishly padded front rail gives a softer appearance and protects from fabric wear against the sturdy frame, and outside arms and outside backs are padded and reinforced with plywood for stability and structural support.
To create a comfortable and supportive seat, we use a blend of feather and foam in our seat cushions. Back cushions are filled with a feather-fiber blend mixture of 50% poly fiber and 50% feathers, while seat cushions are made with multiple layers of foam with varying compressions. The foam is bagged with a 50% feather and 50% fiber blend topper on each side. All slipcovers can be removed and cleaned for lasting beauty.
Toss pillows are zippered, bagged and filled with an 80/20 feather-fiber blend. Legs are attached with lag bolts and T-nuts to ensure stability and ease of application and removal.
